Nicholas Petreley Named Editor In Chief Of TUX, The First And Only Magazine for the New Linux User

March 15, 2021 -- SSC Publishing Ltd. today announced that Nicholas Petreley has been appointed editor in chief of its publication, TUX, the first and only magazine for the new Linux user. As TUX's editorial steward, Petreley is at the helm of the most ambitious journalistic project ever to explain the Linux operating system to a broad, mainstream audience. Petreley takes over TUX during a period of dynamic growth, with readership surpassing 20,000 in its first month alone. His position will begin immediately.

"We are proud to have Nick Petreley on board to share his Linux expertise with TUX readers," said Carlie Fairchild, SSC Publications' VP of Marketing & Sales. "Nick has been a computer journalist since the mid-1980s, during which time he has written about every imaginable computer topic for readers at all skill levels. TUX readers will benefit greatly from his accessible style and pertinent content."

"One thing I intend to do with TUX is dispel the myth that Linux is hard to use," commented Petreley. "We will provide the best down-to-earth, easy-to-read information around so that people realize how enjoyable it is to work and play on the Linux desktop. Because Linux is now so user-friendly and powerful, it has surpassed MacOS as the second-most popular operating
system on Earth. As ever more people read TUX, Linux's growth will only accelerate. We are on the cusp of an exciting, Linux-powered revolution in desktop computing."

Before joining TUX, Petreley was a writer for numerous publications. These include columnist for the Times (Trenton, NJ), editorial director of LinuxWorld, editor in chief of Network Computing World, executive editor of the InfoWorld Test Center, award-winning columnist for InfoWorld and regular technical columnist for ComputerWorld. Petreley is also author of the book
Official Fedora Companion (Red Hat Inc.) and co-author of the forthcoming book Desktop Hacks (O'Reilly & Associates). Finally, Petreley is part-time analyst for Evans Data, freelance writer, creator and maintainer of www.VARLinux.org, and a professional Open Source consultant.

TUX magazine is a digital, controlled-circulation publication. It is available for download free-of-charge at www.TUXMagazine.com.
